Privacy & Discretion
Yacht ownership is deeply personal.
For some, it represents freedom and discovery. For others, it is a sanctuary for family, friends and the moments that matter most.
Whatever the purpose, we believe privacy should remain a choice — never something an owner must compromise.
I — Visibility
In an increasingly connected world, information travels further than expected.
Public yacht listings, ownership records, social media and vessel-tracking platforms such as AIS can make an owner’s movements and personal circumstances more visible than they may wish.
Over time, seemingly ordinary information can reveal patterns of travel, presence and absence, creating concerns for personal security, family privacy and commercial confidentiality.
“Not every yacht needs an audience. Not every owner wishes to be identified.”
II — Understanding
At Le Merge, discretion is not simply about keeping information confidential.
It begins with understanding what deserves protection in the first place.
Whether representing an acquisition, managing a sale or coordinating an owner’s wider interests, we favour considered introductions, agreed disclosure and purposeful communication.
Where visibility serves the client’s interests, we approach it strategically. Where privacy matters more, we respect that choice.
III — Intention
Not every yacht needs to be publicly marketed. Not every owner wishes to be identified. And not every opportunity needs an audience.
We believe information should be shared with intention, through appropriate channels and with the client’s interests in mind, while respecting applicable legal and maritime obligations.
The three pillars of discretion
Considered introductions to qualified principals, without public portals or social media exposure.
Mindful handling of vessel visibility, ownership information and crew communication, within legal and maritime obligations.
Confidentiality agreements and staged release of specifications, shared only as the conversation earns it.
