The founder of Le Merge

I — The beginning

I have always been curious about people. What motivates them, how they make decisions, what earns their confidence and, perhaps most importantly, what makes that confidence last.

That curiosity has shaped much of my life, both personally and professionally.

I graduated from the University of Applied Sciences in Zagreb in 2011 and began my entrepreneurial journey shortly afterwards, co-founding a business in the healthcare sector. It was an early introduction to responsibility, the realities of running a company and the importance of earning trust.

My path later led me into international yachting.

Over more than a decade, I have worked across yacht brokerage, sales, charter, acquisitions and refit consultancy, with my professional experience extending across the Mediterranean, the United States, Asia and the Middle East.

Along the way, I have worked with international brokerage organisations, yacht owners, private family offices, high-net-worth individuals and high-profile clients, including people from the worlds of business and entertainment.

These experiences have given me a broad understanding of the industry, its opportunities and its complexities. But some of the most valuable lessons have had little to do with yachts themselves.

I have learned that people who have achieved a great deal often value the simplest things most: their time, their privacy, a clear answer and the confidence that someone genuinely has their interests at heart.

They do not need to be told what they want to hear. They need someone they can trust to tell them what they should know.

II — Why I founded Le Merge

As my experience grew, so did my conviction that there was room for a more personal approach to yacht representation.

Yachting brings together considerable investments, complex decisions and a network of professionals, each with their own responsibilities and interests. In that environment, good advice requires more than market knowledge.

It requires perspective, transparency and the willingness to take responsibility.

In 2022, I founded Le Merge to create the kind of private yachting office I would want representing my own interests.

A company built around relationships rather than volume. One where the client knows who is advising them, where communication is direct and where the quality of a decision matters more than the speed of a transaction.

I never wanted Le Merge to be everything to everyone. I wanted it to be genuinely valuable to the people who place their trust in us.

That is why we remain deliberately boutique, working through personal relationships, trusted introductions and referrals.

I believe there is a particular strength in staying close to your clients, understanding their wider interests and remaining accountable long after a transaction is complete.

Sometimes good advice leads to an acquisition or a sale. Sometimes it leads to waiting, reconsidering or walking away.

To me, the ability to make that distinction is an essential part of representation.

III — The way I see things

Outside business, my interests have always gravitated towards psychology, chess, wellness and sport, particularly tennis and basketball.

I am fascinated by human behaviour and the different ways people perceive risk, opportunity and success.

Chess appeals to my appreciation for strategy — the discipline of thinking ahead, understanding the position before making a move and recognising that not every opportunity is worth pursuing.

Sport has taught me about preparation, resilience and the balance between individual responsibility and teamwork.

These interests have influenced the way I approach business. I prefer to understand before advising, think beyond the immediate outcome and remain composed when decisions become complex.

My entrepreneurial interests also extend into private investments and supporting businesses beyond yachting. They have encouraged me to look at opportunities from a wider perspective, considering not only what something is worth today, but what it may mean over time.

I am equally interested in what lies ahead.

Artificial intelligence, digital assets and emerging technologies are changing the way information is understood and international business is conducted. I believe in exploring these developments thoughtfully and using innovation where it genuinely improves the quality of our work.

Modern intelligence. Timeless values.

IV — What I believe in

I believe the way we conduct business matters just as much as the results we achieve.

For me, that begins with clarity — understanding the facts and being honest about what we know.

It requires strategy — looking beyond the immediate transaction and considering the consequences of every decision.

It demands transparency — particularly when discussing costs, risks, expectations and commercial interests.

It depends on integrity — being prepared to do what is right, even when it is not the easiest or most profitable choice.

And it calls for discretion — understanding that a client’s privacy, family life and personal affairs deserve protection, not publicity.

These are not principles I believe should change with the market. They are the standards I want Le Merge to be known for.

I value traditional virtues: loyalty, honesty, respect and keeping one’s word. I also believe in being open-minded, adaptable and willing to challenge established ways of doing things.

To me, there is no contradiction between the two.

“You can embrace the future without abandoning what has always mattered.”

V — A personal vision

I am ambitious about what Le Merge can become, but I have never believed that success must be measured by size.

A company that remains thoughtful in its decisions, selective in its commitments and personal in its approach.

One that understands the value of privacy, respects the responsibility of representation and never takes a client’s confidence for granted.

I want Le Merge to keep evolving, to remain curious and forward-looking, and to bring together the right people, ideas and opportunities.

But I also want something to remain unchanged: the belief that trust is earned through actions, not promises.

Because in the end, the most meaningful measure of a relationship is not the first transaction. It is whether someone chooses to trust you again.

That is the thinking behind Le Merge. And, for me, the true meaning of The Art of Connection.

With gratitude,

Founder, Le Merge Yachts

I would rather build a company known for the strength of its relationships than the length of its client list.
